Skimming
Skimming is a term used for a method of plastering using multi-finish plaster to give a flat smooth finish. It can be used to go over old shabby walls , artex or plasterboard, leaving it ready for decoration works such as painting or wallpaper.
Rendering
Rendering is typically used on the outside of houses to stop the elements penetrating the brick work. Render usually consists of sand, cement, lime and a waterproofing agent.
Dry Lining
Dry lining is the technique of applying plasterboard to stud or brick walls as an alternative to a background plaster. This can then be plastered or tape and jointed.
Venetian Plaster
Developed in Italy, it is a technique used for decorative purposes. Wall and ceiling finish consisting of plaster mixed with marble dust. It is applied with a spatula or trowel in thin, multiple layers, which are then burnished to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture.
